Overview

Airport pavements are unforgiving: subgrade stiffness and drainage decide whether runways perform under repeated heavy aircraft loading. Horema carried out subgrade and pavement investigation at Cairo International and Borg El Arab, working within live airside operations and security constraints.

Testing focused on the parameters pavement designers actually use — CBR, in-situ density, permeability and plate load moduli — supported by test pits that verified existing construction layers and fill quality.

Electrical resistivity work supported earthing and corrosion assessments for airport infrastructure alongside the geotechnical scope.
