Offshore & Nearshore Investigation
Marine geotechnical drilling and sampling using floating pontoons and dedicated offshore equipment.

Part of a Dutch–Egyptian consortium led by the governments of Egypt and the Netherlands to strengthen coastal resilience through climate adaptation.
Nile Delta coastline, Mediterranean Sea
Overview
The Nile Delta is one of the world's most climate-vulnerable coastlines. Horema joined a Dutch–Egyptian consortium, formed under an intergovernmental programme between Egypt and the Netherlands, to characterise the seabed and shoreline soils that coastal protection works will be founded on.
Working alongside Van Oord and Marine Sampling Holland, our crews delivered offshore and nearshore sampling in soft, sensitive delta deposits where sample quality determines whether settlement and stability predictions can be trusted. Testing followed international protocols agreed across the consortium so results were directly comparable with the partners' datasets.
The resulting parameters feed the design of breakwaters, beach nourishment and dune reinforcement schemes intended to protect agricultural land and dense coastal populations for decades.
