Overview
New Alamein packs high-rise towers, heavy utilities and public realm into a coastal strip founded on cemented sands, limestone and saline groundwater. Horema investigated across the full range of structures, from beach towers requiring deep coring to pump stations sensitive to buoyancy and drawdown.
Coastal chemistry mattered as much as strength here. Water and soil samples were tested for sulphates, chlorides and pH so designers could specify concrete mixes and protective systems suitable for an aggressive marine environment.
The work spanned prestige assets including the Touristic Walk and the Presidential Guest Facility, delivered against tight national programme deadlines.
